Best Teleconsultation Software for Healthcare Professionals in 2026: 7 Solutions Compared

What is the best teleconsultation software for healthcare professionals in 2026? There is no single winner: the best teleconsultation software depends on who is with the patient. A physician who runs video visits with their own patients is well served by a scheduling-plus-video tool (Doctolib, Medaviz, Healphi). An organization that lacks physicians will usually work with an approved teleconsultation company that supplies the doctors (Medaviz, Medadom, Qare). A home-care nurse, a primary care network or a facility that needs to send the remote physician a real clinical exam (ECG, auscultation, vital signs) needs a platform paired with connected medical devices, such as MedConnect. Whatever you choose, check three things: certified health-data hosting, insurance billing workflow and total three-year cost.
This comparison covers seven solutions that French healthcare organizations frequently shortlist. It is written for the French market, where teleconsultation is reimbursed by the national health insurance (Assurance Maladie) and health data must be hosted by a certified HDS host. It does not score or rank vendors. It reports what each vendor publishes, then gives you a decision checklist.

Three kinds of solution for three different needs
Most "best of" lists put these seven names side by side. In practice they answer three distinct needs, and identifying yours is the first decision.
1. Scheduling plus video for your own patients
Doctolib, Medaviz (practitioner software), Healphi and Rofim's Premium tier let a clinician start a video visit, collect payment and share documents. The differences are mostly in pricing models: a per-practitioner subscription at Doctolib (€79/month incl. VAT), a capped commission at Medaviz (€39/month maximum), and a subsidized subscription at Healphi. This is the right category if you practice alone and video is clinically sufficient.
2. A teleconsultation company that supplies the physicians
Medaviz, Medadom and Qare display the French Ministry of Health approval as teleconsultation companies. Their main value is access to physicians rather than software: employed physicians at Medaviz and Medadom, physicians of any status taking slots at Qare. This fits a pharmacy, a nursing home or a rural area with no physician to call on.
3. A remote clinical exam platform
Here a nurse or caregiver is with the patient, and the remote physician needs clinical data, not just a video feed. That is the role of the MedConnect clinical telemedicine platform: the nurse records the ECG, auscultation or vital signs with the devices in the kit or cart, and the measurements arrive live in the consultation. Medadom also uses connected devices, but inside its own pharmacy booths and kiosks, with its own physicians.
How to choose teleconsultation software: 7 criteria
- Certified health-data hosting, verified on paper. In France, health data hosted on behalf of others falls under HDS certification, overseen by the French digital health agency (ANS). All seven solutions in the table mention HDS, but with different wording ("certified," "approved," "hosted by a certified host"). Ask for the certificate, its scope and the hosting provider. Our guide to choosing HDS-certified telemedicine software lists the questions to ask. For US deployments, the equivalent check is a signed BAA; MedConnect is HIPAA-ready, with US deployments under a BAA.
- Fit with the French e-health ecosystem. List what the software must exchange: Carte Vitale reading and electronic claims (FSE), the national shared record (DMP), national patient identity (INS), e-prescribing, your practice software or resident record. If Ségur referencing matters for your funding, ask the vendor for proof; none of the pages reviewed for this comparison allows a consistent check. MedConnect uses DMP Connect, Stellair for Carte Vitale and FSE, Ordoclic for e-prescribing and Netsoins for nursing homes; INS integration is in progress.
- Nurse-assisted teleconsultation. According to ameli.fr, a nurse assisting a teleconsultation bills TLS (€10) during an already-planned nursing visit, TLL (€12) in a dedicated teleconsultation location and TLD (€15) when organized specifically at the patient's home. The software must let the nurse prepare the visit, invite the physician and document the act. Healphi, Medaviz and MedConnect explicitly support this workflow. See also telemedicine for home-care nurses.
- Connected devices: what the physician actually receives. Separate three levels: a value read aloud, a photo of a screen, and a measurement sent directly by the device. Ask for the list of devices actually integrated and how data is transmitted. Ameli.fr provides French nurses with €350 toward video equipment and €175 toward connected medical devices (page last updated July 5, 2023).
- Three-year total cost, not the entry price. Using published prices over 36 months: Doctolib Teleconsultation comes to €2,844 incl. VAT per practitioner (€79 × 36), before payment fees; Medaviz to a maximum of €1,404 (€39 × 36), before Stripe fees; the MedConnect software subscription to €5,400 excl. VAT per system (€150 × 36) for five accounts, plus hardware. The models are not equivalent: per practitioner, per transaction or per shared team system.
- Who supplies the physician? If your own physicians (network members, regular doctors, on-call doctors) run the consultations, software is enough. If you have none, an approved teleconsultation company provides the medical time. Some organizations combine both.
- Deployment time and training. A video tool can be switched on in minutes. A project with devices, multiple sites or integrations needs scoping: MedConnect goes live in 2 to 4 weeks with a half-day training session for the team.
Where MedConnect fits, honestly
MedConnect is built for one specific situation: a caregiver is with the patient (a home-care nurse, a nursing-home nurse, a primary care network team, a teleconsultation center) and the remote physician needs a clinical exam to make a decision. The software combines a patient portal, encrypted video, the patient record, billing, tele-expertise and data from the devices configured for the project. The same software runs our telehealth kits and carts.
A few verifiable facts: HDS-certified cloud with data hosted in France, or deployment on your own servers; ISO 27001:2022 since June 2024; interoperability through GDT (ECG), HL7 (spirometry) and FHIR R4 (vital signs). Deployment examples include six mobile kits for the CPTS Nord-Yonne network in a project validated by the regional health agency, and more than 1,500 teleconsultations in Province Nord, New Caledonia.
MedConnect is not the right choice if you practice alone, see only your own patients, and video, documents and payment are all you need: a video-first tool will be simpler and cheaper. It also does not supply physicians: if your problem is a lack of medical time, an approved teleconsultation company is a better fit.
MedConnect kits and carts ship with a Windows computer, so any web-based tool you already use, Doctolib included, runs on the same station, while MedConnect adds the connected clinical exam with device measurements landing directly in the consultation. Frequently asked questions
What is the best teleconsultation software for an independent physician? For a physician who sees their own patients by video, a scheduling-plus-video tool is usually enough. As of October 1, 2026, Doctolib lists €79 incl. VAT per month per practitioner, Medaviz 3% per fee collected capped at €39 per month, and Healphi an offer that drops to €20 per month after the Assurance Maladie subsidy. The choice mostly depends on the scheduling tool you already use and the pricing model you prefer.
Which teleconsultation software should a home-care nurse choose? A nurse needs software that can invite the physician, share vital signs or measurements, and support billing for the assistance: TLS €10, TLL €12 or TLD €15 according to ameli.fr. Healphi, Medaviz and MedConnect all highlight nurse-assisted teleconsultation; MedConnect adds live transmission of ECG, auscultation and vital signs from a connected kit.
Does teleconsultation software have to be HDS certified in France? Yes. When software hosts health data on behalf of clinicians or organizations, the hosting must be HDS certified. All seven solutions in this comparison mention HDS on their website. Always ask for the certificate and its exact scope.
What is the difference between teleconsultation software and a teleconsultation company? Software provides the tool: video, record, billing. A teleconsultation company approved by the French Ministry of Health, such as Medaviz, Medadom or Qare, also provides the physicians who perform the consultations. An organization with no available physician needs the latter; a team with its own physicians needs the former.
How much does teleconsultation software cost in 2026? Based on prices published on October 1, 2026: from €0 (Rofim Standard tele-expertise) to €79 incl. VAT per month per practitioner (Doctolib), a maximum of €39 per month at Medaviz, €499 per month for a CPTS at Healphi, and from €150 excl. VAT per month per five-account system at MedConnect, plus hardware. Always compare over three years.
Can Doctolib be used with a MedConnect telemedicine kit? Yes, on the same station. MedConnect kits and carts run on a Windows computer, so web tools you already use, including Doctolib, remain available, and connected-device measurements land in the MedConnect consultation.
Is nurse-assisted teleconsultation reimbursed in France? The nurse's assistance is paid by Assurance Maladie (TLS, TLL, TLD) according to ameli.fr. The physician's consultation follows the standard teleconsultation coverage rules. Medadom states that its consultations are reimbursable by Assurance Maladie.
