Nurses: turn every visit into a complete consultation

With the MedConnect kit, you perform a complete clinical exam at the patient's home — auscultation, ECG, dermatoscopy, vital signs — while a doctor observes live and makes the diagnosis. The patient no longer needs to travel.

How it fits into your daily workflow

The kit fits in your car trunk. Between regular home visits, you open the kit, start the session, and the doctor is there.

1

Arrive at patient's home

Open the kit, turn on the tablet. Session starts in 2 minutes.

2

Doctor joins

The doctor connects via video. They see the patient and guide you.

3

Clinical exam

You use the devices: stethoscope, ECG, dermatoscope. Data displays in real time for the doctor.

4

Diagnosis & prescription

The doctor diagnoses, prescribes if needed. The report is generated automatically.

Where nurses use MedConnect

Home visits

The mobile nurse brings the kit to the patient's home. In medical deserts, this is sometimes the only access to a doctor. MedConnect turns every nursing visit into a complete medical consultation.

Nursing homes

In nursing homes, the nurse uses the MedConnect cart to examine residents room by room. The coordinating physician or a specialist intervenes remotely.

Nursing clinics and care networks

A nursing clinic equipped with MedConnect becomes a teleconsultation point for the whole territory. Primary care networks fund kits via regional health authority grants.

The nurse's role (RN) in assisted teleconsultation

In an assisted teleconsultation, the nurse stays beside the patient while the doctor intervenes remotely. The nurse performs the clinical acts — digital stethoscope auscultation, ECG, vital signs, dermatoscopy — and transmits the data in real time, giving the remote doctor a genuine clinical exam to base a diagnosis on, which a plain video call cannot.

Nurses in telemedicine: at home and in care facilities

Whether you are a home-based or facility nurse, telemedicine fits into your round: home visits with the kit, room-by-room exams in care homes with the cart, or a teleconsultation point at the practice. The nurse becomes the doctor's clinical relay in the field.

Coding and reimbursement of assisted teleconsultation

Assisted teleconsultation falls under the standard teleconsultation framework: the nurse's assistance can be remunerated and the patient is covered under common-law conditions. For equipment, French health insurance grants €350/yr for video gear and €175/yr for connected devices; care networks can obtain regional health authority funding.

Telecare, assisted teleconsultation, tele-expertise: three distinct acts

The three acts involve different professionals, different equipment and different billing. Here is what separates them.

Telecare: the nurse delivers care remotely, without a doctor

Telecare connects a patient directly with a paramedical professional — nurse, physiotherapist, speech therapist — with no doctor involved. The nurse performs the remote care act: wound monitoring, treatment follow-up, therapeutic support, patient education. The equipment needed is lighter than for assisted teleconsultation: secure video covers many acts, with connected devices added where objective measurement matters.

Assisted teleconsultation: the nurse examines, the doctor diagnoses

This is the act the MedConnect kit was built for. The nurse is physically with the patient and performs the clinical examination — auscultation, 12-lead ECG, vital signs, dermatoscopy — while the remote doctor watches the data live and makes the diagnosis. Two professionals, two billed acts, one appointment for the patient.

Tele-expertise: the nurse requests a specialist opinion

Tele-expertise is an exchange between health professionals, with no patient on the call. The nurse sends an ECG trace, a dermatoscopic image or a set of vitals to a specialist, who returns a written opinion. It is asynchronous: no one has to be available at the same moment. Omnidoc is natively integrated into the MedConnect platform, so an opinion can be requested without switching tools.

For billing detail, see our guides on assisted teleconsultation billing and nurse tele-expertise. Amounts and conditions change: confirm the current schedule with the health insurer before committing.
