## What is medical teleexpertise?

Teleexpertise is a regulated telemedicine practice. A requesting professional remotely seeks the opinion of a consulted professional, without the patient having to travel. In France, reimbursement depends on eligibility conditions and the national agreement rules in force.
[Image: Nurse performing an ECG at a patient's home before a teleexpertise request] Level 1
### TE1 teleexpertise (France)

A simple opinion between healthcare professionals. The requesting professional asks a clinical question based on the patient record. The consulted professional answers based on the information provided.
- Asynchronous question and answer
- Request tracked in the patient record
- Reimbursement according to the rules in force
Level 2
### TE2 teleexpertise (France)

A complex opinion requiring analysis of additional tests. The professional can attach an ECG tracing, images or lab results to the MedConnect request.
- Analysis of additional tests
- ECG, imaging and lab results added to the request
- Workflow defined by the organization and the rules in force

## Why MedConnect teleexpertise is different

The teleexpertise module is part of the MedConnect clinical workflow. It works with your own experts; Omnidoc can be added when you want access to its network.

### Typical teleexpertise software
- Platform separate from teleconsultation
- Manual re-entry of patient data
- Attachments exported and imported manually
- No link to the patient record

### Native MedConnect module
- Request created and tracked in MedConnect
- Clinical documents added to the request
- Secure messaging and specialist response
- Your experts natively, Omnidoc network as an option

## Teleexpertise in 4 steps with MedConnect

From the clinical record to the specialist's reply, MedConnect brings the request, documents and messages together in one workflow.
1
### The nurse performs the exam

12-lead ECG, vital signs, auscultation, dermatology images — the data flows into the MedConnect patient record.
2
### The physician creates the request

The physician opens a teleexpertise request from the record, adds the relevant documents and states the clinical question.
3
### The specialist responds

An expert from your organization responds in the native module. The Omnidoc connector can extend this workflow to its network.
4
### Response in the record

The opinion, attachments, status and messages stay linked to the patient's care pathway in MedConnect.

## Every specialty via teleexpertise

With the Omnidoc connector enabled, MedConnect can extend the native workflow to its network of professionals and specialties.

## Medical teleexpertise in primary care networks and nursing homes

Teleexpertise is at the heart of coordinated care. MedConnect is already deployed in French primary care networks (CPTS) and nursing homes (EHPAD), with workflows adapted to each setting.

### In primary care networks (CPTS)

Coordinated care pathway between local physicians
- The general practitioner sends a TE1 or TE2 teleexpertise request from MedConnect
- Your experts respond in MedConnect, with Omnidoc available as an option
- The patient avoids waiting times of several months
- In France, TE1/TE2 acts are reimbursed — added value for the CPTS

### In nursing homes (EHPAD)

Specialist access without moving the resident
- The coordinating physician consults a specialist through medical teleexpertise
- ECG, vital signs and images sent from the MedConnect record
- The resident stays in the facility — no medical transport
- Fewer emergency department visits, better continuity of care

## FAQ — Medical teleexpertise
What is the difference between TE1 and TE2 teleexpertise?
In France, TE1 teleexpertise is a simple opinion based on the patient record. TE2 covers a more complex opinion that may require additional tests. The native MedConnect module lets you create and track the request with its attachments and secure messaging; Omnidoc can be enabled as an option.
How does teleexpertise billing work?
The billing workflow depends on the professionals involved, the rules in force and the chosen connector. The native MedConnect module handles the request and clinical exchanges; when Omnidoc is enabled, its administrative component can complete the workflow depending on the project configuration.
How many specialists can be reached through Omnidoc?
More than 110,000 healthcare professionals are registered on Omnidoc, covering every medical specialty: cardiology, dermatology, pulmonology, neurology, ophthalmology, ENT, gynecology and many more. The average response time for a teleexpertise opinion is a few hours.
Do I need to leave MedConnect to send a teleexpertise request?
No. MedConnect has its own teleexpertise module: you create the request, add the relevant documents, exchange messages securely and track the response within the platform. Omnidoc is an optional connector to extend the workflow to its network.
Can teleexpertise be used in nursing homes (EHPAD) and primary care networks (CPTS)?
Yes. Medical teleexpertise is particularly well suited to nursing homes (EHPAD: specialist access without moving the resident) and to primary care networks (CPTS: coordinated care pathways between local physicians). MedConnect is already deployed in both settings, with workflows optimized for each.
Is teleexpertise data secure?
All data passes through cloud infrastructure certified HDS (the French health data hosting certification) and ISO 27001:2022. Encryption is bank-grade (AES-256 at rest, TLS 1.3 in transit). Omnidoc is also hosted on HDS-certified infrastructure. The entire medical teleexpertise workflow complies with the GDPR.
